Basements
" A blank canvas waiting to be transformed into a warm & welcoming space that compliments you & the rest of your home. "
Many people think of a basement as a medieval dungeon that is cold, dark, musty, and gives off bad vibes (as our daughter would say!) . But to us a large, unfinished basement space is like a blank canvas waiting to be transformed into a warm & welcoming space that compliments you & the rest of your home.
Over the years, we have renovated many basements. While basements double the amount of living space in your home, you want to be conscious of the money you spend. You won't get the same ROI for a basement renovation as let's say a kitchen renovation. However, if this is a home that you plan on having as a forever home, then let your imagination run wild.
In our opinion, these are our top 3 must haves to include in your basement renovation.
1. Suspended or Dropped Ceilings - the biggest benefit to a drop ceiling is that you have easy access to plumbing, wiring, and duct work. If any maintenance issues arise, you can simply remove a ceiling tile. If a tile gets damaged, it is as easy as just removing it and replacing it. Great for extra sound barrier. Suspended ceilings come in many different styles, textures & colours.
2. LED Recessed Lighting- Even if your basement has lots of windows, chances are it's still does not provide enough natural light. Adding recessed lighting can do wonders to make your basement more inviting & have energy saving cost. This also helps with the increase of head space.
Storage- You can never have enough storage! Creating additional storage in your mechanical room will help keep the clutter out of all the other rooms. We can design custom shelving using MDF that suits you & your storage needs.
